Spring Fling Roundup

The JOASW contingent made a great showing at this years annual Spring Fling. Special thanks to Mike Cook and all those in the Houston club who made this year’s event a smashing success. We rendezvoused at the Bybee Farm Friday evening then pressed on to a wonderful outdoor German dinner at the Landhaus Ramsey Restaurant and Biergarten.

Saturday morning dawned bright and clear giving a perfect day for the rally. Most had breakfast at their B and B's; some were not so lucky. After several stops and a wonderful lunch prepared by Chef Andre we were off. Of the 21 official entries 15 successfully navigated the sometimes tricky but always scenic course. Arrival back in Round Top left ample time for rest prior to dinner. The awards ceremony was held following our authentic chuck wagon BBQ. A tour of the Sterling McCall car museum beforehand (including an XK-120) put everyone in an automotive mood for the evening. It's still my opinion that for a short time that night the best cars were in the parking lot!

On Sunday morning some met for breakfast at Klumps restaurant, others hustled to Dallas for the All British Car day while a few of us just enjoyed a leisurely drive home under the blue Texas sky. During the day on Monday I flew over the area three times shuttling from Cancun to DFW and it was a solid cloud cover below us each time.  Certainly Sir William Lyons was looking out for us during this year’s Spring Fling weekend.
