LUCKENBACH
RALLY REPORT
From JOASW
Well,
the 15th annual Luckenbach Rally sponsored by the San
Antonio
Jaguar
Club finally went off after the third rain delay on a beautiful,
sunny Texas Sunday January 25th.
Our JOASW Club “mission” with a team by yours truly and
that expert navigator/pilot/painter/golfer & all around
rennaisance man, Tom Jobe (ex-SAJC member) was to help SAJC return
the rotating trophy to Jaguar from the Corvette clutches
the past three years…Well, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!An all
Brit
Sweep
returned the well worn trophy to welcome hands led by a MG and an
assortment of Jags led by Brian Blackwell (even though Don Snyder
was driving a Saab?) Your
JOASW team placed 10th out of 23 entrants, holding
off a gaggle of Mini Coopers, Porsches, Corvettes and a Testa Rossa
Ferrari to insure the Anglophile
eventual victory.
Oh
what a glorious day for the SAJC, JCOH and JOASW and our true
British heritage to see the grand ‘ol rotating trophy back
“home”. Bill Davis, Rally Hoss, did a devilish layout of a 5-leg
course from quaint Gruene to historic Luckenbach all along the
magnificent cattle-guard back roads of the Hill country with unique
multi-use checkpoints. We
were coming and going from all compass points in a glorious
cacophony of pounding tires, accelerating cars and screeching
brakes. Jayne Iffla ,
Virginia and Fran Curran did a herculean job of holding the Rally
together in spite of the ever-present minor controvercies, weather
delays, and bar- tab dis-agreements the night before the first car
roll-out!
What
a weekend!!!Thanks to the SAJC for their determination and
hospitality. We’re
looking forward with delight and wonder for the 16th
Luckenbach Rally. Results can be seen on the www.Sajaguarclub.org
website. Check it out
and JOASW is throwing up a special 2005 Challenge to the SAJC for
the 16th Memorial Luckenbach Rally…
Cheers…Cheers…Cheers…
