The Ninth Annual "Keels & Wheels" Concours d'
Elegance will be held once again on the beautiful grounds of Lakewood
Yacht Club, 30 minutes south of Houston Texas. The 2004
Concours will benefit the
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston and the
Houston Symphony.
We will display the very finest in automotive classics and
exotics on the grass of the Yacht club grounds, covered with
100 year old oak trees which surround the beautiful palm tree
lined inner harbor which holds the incredible variety of the
most beautiful vintage wooden yachts, runabouts and sailing
yachts.
In our Ninth year, our show will display 240-250 classic
automobiles and 100 vintage wooden boats to an admiring crowd.
The attendees come from virtually every corner of the U.S. and
Europe to see this spectacular and unique display of
automotive and marine classics and enjoy our famous
"Texas Hospitality".

NEWS
Antique & Classic Boat Magazine,
published bi-monthly, is emerging as a major national
publication aimed at promoting interest in vintage wooden
boats. They have covered the Keels & Wheels show several
times and have proven to be great friends of Keels &
Wheels. Visit their website Antique

WHERE: Lakewood
Yacht Club is located at the eastern end of Clear Lake on
NASA Road One, just 3 miles east of NASA Space Center and 30
minutes south of Houston. The Yacht Club is just minutes away
from many interesting tourist attractions including NASA,
Kemah Waterfront, Battleship Texas, San Jacinto Museum and
Monument and Galveston. Located in Seabrook, Texas, Lakewood
has many nearby hotels and Bed & Breakfast facilities

THE SHOW: The show is open from
10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday, May 1 and 9:00
AM to 4:00 PM Sunday, May 2. "Peoples
Choice" ballots are passed out to spectators for
"Peoples Choice" awards presentation poolside on
Sunday afternoon, along with Class Awards.
Food Courts and a variety of vendor / Sponsors offer a
cornucopia of food, drink and merchandise for the convenience
of spectators. Artists also display their work in the Art

CO-HOST: South West Chapter,
Antique & Classic Boat Society (ACBS).
Our Co-Host each year, led by Chapter President Ed Ueckert, is
responsible for providing the incredible display of vintage
wooden boats seen at each Keels & Wheels Concours. Paul
Merryman, one of the founders of the SW Chapter is also the
Co-Founder of the Keels & Wheels event.
ACBS enjoys an international memebership of over 8000
enthusiasts dedicated to the mission of promoting a continued
interest in the preservation of historic, antique and classic
boats. Our goal is to to ensure that future generations have
the opportunity to appreciate, own, operate and enjoy the
wonderful examples of the golden age of classic boat design

The International ACBS Board will hold its Quarterly Meeting
this year in conjunction with Keels and Wheels weekend.
TO PARTICIPATE: Owners of Classic
and Exotic automobiles and vintage wooden boats are encouraged
to join us this year and share your beautiful treasures by
participating in our show. Invitations and Entry Forms are
noted on the web page and can be downloaded and sent in. Our
deadline for entry is April 1. Contact our office with any
questions.
ARTISTS: Automotive and marine
related artists display their art as a major part of our show
each year. Be sure to visit the Artist Court and get
acquainted with these very talented individuals who add an
elegant touch to our show. (see ARTISTS)
CLASSES: The classic cars and
wooden boats are divided roughly into 40 classes for cars and
20 separate classes for boats. Formal judging takes place
during the show Saturday determining "Best of Class"
and "Runner Up" winners and "Best of Show"
winners for both car and boat.
AWARDS: The Awards will be
presented Sunday at 1:00 PM poolside. Over 80 Awards are
presented to those car and boat owners winning "Best of
Class" and "Runner up" Trophies.
"Corinthian Awards" are also awarded to car and
boats deserving of Special Mention. "Emeritus
Awards" are presented to individuals who have contributed
significantly to the growth of our event. The Awards
presentation ends with the ultimate award known as the
"Commodores Award" for Best of Show for both car and
boat. This award is a beautiful piece of Baccarat Crystal
engraved with the Concours Logo, courtesy of Baccarat. Peoples
Choice Awards are presented Sunday afternoon, as well.
CAR AND BOAT EXHIBITORS: All car
and boat owners participating in the Concours are treated as
honored guests. They receive "Guest Membership"
cards for full use of the clubs restaurant and bar and pool
facilities. Our objective is to extend the very best of
"Texas Hospitality" to all involved to make them
feel at home while at Lakewood.
YACHTA,YACHTA,YACHTA: A new social
feature this year to enable the Sponsors, car and boat
exhibitors the opportunity to mix and mingle and get to know
each other on Friday evening prior to the show. The roving
party will include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres as well as a
special tour of 4-6 large yachts ranging from 70 to 120 feet

LAKEWOOD MEMBERS: Over 150
Lakewood members play a specific role during the Concours
weekend to ensure that the details of logistics, hospitality
and administration go off without a hitch. Identified by their
colorful "Concours Committee" shirts or armbands,
they are seen virtually everywhere during the weekend.
VOLUNTEERS: Over 200 additional
volunteers are deployed throughout the grounds and harbor
during the show hours to provide specific assistance to the
car and boat owners all weekend.
SECURITY: Overnight security is
provided by a combination of Off Duty Police officers as well
as a group of Lakewood members who literally spend the night
with the cars and boats.

timeless beauty, engineering and design of classic boats and
cars, you must come to this unique event among the major
Concours events in the United States. Come as an exhibitor or
a spectator and help support the The 2004 Concours will
benefit the
Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston and the
Houston Symphony in the process.
