                      2004 Spring Fling Report
A Texas size "THANKS" goes out to Brian Blackwell and the San Antonio club for making the 2004 Spring Fling a stellar success. Jaguars converged on the Hampton Inn in Marble Falls from all directions to join in the fun of this annual event. After a get together around the pool for registration & libations, it was a short walk to the Wild Horse Grille where the dinner was superb and the conversation even better. One of the big topics of discussion was the threatening weather, but it turned out that our concerns were unfounded because we all awoke Saturday morning to perfectly wonderful day.

A caravan of over 20 cars made the beautiful (and perfectly planned) drive to the Vanishing Texas River Cruise on Lake Buchanan. There was a short delay casting off because we waited for a certain San Antonio Club member who was late, but Jane is certainly worth the wait. We were all treated to the spectacular site of waterfalls in full force; something the boat crew said they had only rarely seen before.

After our morning boat trip we toured back across the hill country to our next stop at Spicewood Vineyards. There were many wines to taste, dogs to pet and after the tour most members felt qualified to start crushing their own grapes for next year.

Prior to dinner at the Four Bears Restaurant, JOASW hosted a cocktail reception across the street at the historic Antlers Hotel. Everyone was treated to a tour of Cliff's Red Caboose -- the one on the railroad tracks, that is!! These unique accommodations were certainly befitting our President and the view from the cupola was great.

Sunday morning dawned a gray overcast day with many of the group leaving early and a few of us venturing over to the Bluebonnet Café for a hearty breakfast. Everyone left with wonderful memories of a great weekend meeting old friends, making new friends and enjoying a spectacular spring weekend in the Hill Country of Texas.
